Navigating the Ning

There are many different ways to engage your colleagues in a social networking place like "Ning", including discussion forums and blogs.

How to create a blog post

One of the best ways to communicate in a Ning environment is to create a blog post. michael chalk made a small document to help you with doing this, here:

How to add links to a post

Whether you're making a blog post, a comment on someone else's post or adding to a discussion forum, it can be useful to add links to your post. Here's michael again, with a screencast of adding links.

How to attach a file to any post, blog or comment

Essentially you're looking for the last icon on the "editing toolbar".. the one that looks a bit like a blank page. This should let you upload a file.

Read the links in "Latest Activity"

Michael noticed something about the links in a Ning environment. Have you noticed.. each part of a "Latest Activity" post links to a different part of the site. Watch the video to find out more.

Discussion questions :

  1. What do you need to know about navigating a Ning?
  2. What do you like about the environment.. or not like?
  3. What works for engaging people in conversation .. and what doesn't?

Key in your questions and comments in the "discussion tab" at the top of the page.
